The meeScan app uses the built-in camera of the patron's smartphone or tablet to scan item barcodes. Patrons can checkout items in real time without the assistance of library staff.
Patrons use meeScan stations conveniently located throughout the library to desensitize items. The smart cloud-connected stations verify items are checked out to the patron account before desensitization can take place. meeScan supports EM, RFID and hybrid based security technologies.
The meeScan cloud handles all communication between the library’s ILS, the meeScan app and the stations. An unlimited number of transactions are handled by the meeScan cloud infrastructure through a SIP2 communication connection between the cloud and the library's ILS.
