A Virtual Library Card is now available within the meeScan app, making it even easier for patrons to use the library.
This feature offers library users the convenience of having a scannable library card readily available in their device. The user card is stored within the meeScan app and always on hand for identification.
With a digital library card there is no longer the need to carry a physical library card. Now that’s convenient!
To enable this feature for your library, contact our service team at email@example.com.
You may have heard that meeScan is the easiest way to check out library books, magazines, DVDs and all kinds of library items without staff intervention.
After a simple, one-time login, library patrons are all set to checkout materials with their phone or tablet. But, did you know? In addition to self-checkout, meeScan now provides a whole range of new features designed to expand the use of the system and enhance user experience.
Library patrons can now also check the status of their checked-out items, search the catalog, request and renew materials to avoid late fees, and pay library fines all through meeScan.
Stay tuned! Additional information regarding how to configure new available features will be made available soon to the meeScan community.

ALA Midwinter 2018
This past February the meeScan team was at the ALA Midwinter Meeting 2018 in Denver. This was our third time at Midwinter and it never disappoints. Bringing together the library community, students, teachers and experts dedicated to changing the conversation and transforming the way people think about libraries, ALA rocks!
This year, we were also celebrating a special anniversary. Only two years ago we introduced meeScan Self-checkout at ALA Midwinter in Boston and embarked in this amazing journey. Thanks to our customers, a great innovative product and our dedicated team, this adventure is just beginning. Stay tuned for new features and services to be unveiled at ALA Annual 2018 in New Orleans. See you there!
meeScan was recently showcased in the American Libraries Magazine. The article, written by Carrie Smith on July 19, 2017, features library staff time saving technologies and new labor-saving services.
"Self-checkout is an established way to save staff time, but it often comes with a large investment in hardware and software. Bintec Library Services has introduced meeScan, a mobile-based self-checkout system.
Patrons download an app (available for iOS, Android, and BlackBerry) onto their smartphone that, based on geolocation, identifies the library branch they are in. After scanning or entering their library card information, patrons scan an item’s barcode to check it out from anywhere in the library."

Did you know? In the past, meeScan required activation after being downloaded and installed on the user’s device. The activation was done either by scanning an activation barcode or by manual entry of the 8-digit library activation code.
Now, meeScan is automatically activated based on the user's location. The new 'Automatic Activation' feature performs system activation at the beginning of each session. This means that patrons downloading the meeScan app for the first time will not need to enter or scan an activation code. They simply enter their user credentials and can start checking out items. The process is seamless for the user.
When visiting other meeScan enabled libraries users will be able to use the system without the need to re-activate. meeScan automatically knows where they are!
If you would like to learn more about this and other meeScan features please contact us or email our customer service team at email@example.com.
